Airbus a380 temporarily withdrew from Montreal-Paris route

Air France Airbus A380 is temporarily withdrew (between 4 September to 11 December 2011) from the Montreal-Paris route but for a good reason: for installing the Premium Voyageur class seats!
Placed between Economy and Business Class, Premium Economy Class provides more comfort and space than Economy Class, with an 40% extra space for seats than Economy Class seats. It also comes with a difference in price for the airplane tickets but for long haul flights is a certain advantage.

The Airbus a380 flying Montreal-Paris will have the following configuration: 9 seats in First Class, 80 at Business Class, 38 at Economy Plus and 389 seats at Economy Class. This temporary change does not alter the schedule or number of daily flights, but refers only the type of aircraft.

Canada is finally set to join the rest of the G8 in issuing electronically secure passports but security experts warn the new documents are not a panacea for evolving threats.
Passport Canada CEO Christine Desloges promised on Tuesday that her agency will start issuing ePassports by the end of next year. (2012)

We start today with the most famous Heathrow terminal - terminal 5.

When you buy an airplane ticket, your travel agent is asking for your contact details: your e-mail address and especially your telephone number. How annoying can this be! It’s not your travel agent’s business which is your telephone number. Right? Right! Let’s find out what’s this about!

The travel agent is going to ask for your contact details: e-mail address and telephone number. The agent is not interested IN your telephone number he just a needs a way to contact you case your flight schedule is changing. You think this is a remote possibility? Think again! Strikes in airline business seems to be more and more frequent, airplanes are exposed to weather whims and natural phenomena – the Iceland volcano eruption in 2010 just proved this in the hard way. You want some more? – What about the inexplicable (for us) decisions of airlines to simply modify schedules according to their own calculation?! Yes, all these and even more just happens. The only way you can be kept informed is by the travel agent. Airlines do not call passengers to let them know schedule changes – no they don’t – this is why you should give your travel agent the telephone number – he will let you know about changes that affects you!
You think is just a corny story? No it isn’t – just a few days ago, due to Air France ground personnel strike, a grandfather traveling with two nephews from Montreal to a destination in Europe, was separated by he’s young (very young) nephews at the stop in Paris – the grandfather was suddenly departing earlier with an airplane and the children, two ours later with another aircraft! It was that close to become a very difficult situation. We don’t want to praise ourselves but yes, the travel agent solved everything, announced the family about the schedule changes at departure and at Paris. If he wouldn’t have the contact details of the passenger, they would have lost the flight – because in this case, except the situation in Paris – the departure from Montreal was also rescheduled two hours earlier than initial. That important can be to give your contact details to the travel agent!

Agentul de voiaj va cere datele de contact (e-mail si telefon) cind va emite un bilet de avion. Uneori sintem asaltati de astfel de cereri din toate partile, deci poate sa para o cerere enervanta si poate chiar usor deplasata. In definitiv de ce ar avea nevoie agentul de voiaj de numarul dumneavoastra de telefon? Adevarul este ca e o informatie care nu il priveste neaparat pe agentul de voiaj, dar este necesar sa aiba la indemina un mijloc prin care sa comunica cu dumneavoastra in cazul unei schimbari a orarului de zbor de exemplu. Orar de zbor schimbat – credeti ca posibilitatea este prea redusa ca asa ceva sa se intimple? Hai sa ne mai gindim odata – grevele in industria aeronautica par a fi din ce in ce mai dese, avioanele sint expuse capriciilor vremii si fenomenelor naturale, iar eruptia vulcanului din Islanda in 2010 ne-a reamintit asta foarte dur. Dar nu e tot – ce ziceti de inexplicabilele (pentru noi cel putin) decizii ale liniilor aeriene de a schimba pur si simplu orarul de zbor in concordanta cu propriile lor calcule? Liniile aeriene nu isi suna niciodata pasagerii sa ii anunte schimbarile de zbor, agentii de voiaj o fac.
Credeti ca toata asta e vorbarie pentru a justifica o cerinta si atit? Nu, nu este si iata de ce: acum doua zile, din cauza recentei greve a personalului de la sol a Air France, un bunic calatorind cu doi nepoti de virste mici, de la Montreal catre o destinatie europeana, a fost separat de nepoti la escala din Paris – bunicul urma sa plece mai devreme, singur iar nepotii doua ore mai tirziu cu alta cursa. Situatie grava din mai multe puncte de vedere si aici nu ne referim numai la disconfortul psihic daca vreti – doi copii mici care ramin singuri pe un aeroport – ci chiar legal – minorii nu au voie sa calatoreasca neinsotiti! Nu vrem sa ne laudam dar adevarul este ca agentul de voiaj, dupa multa munca a reusit sa rezolve situatia creata, anuntind si familia despre schimbarile de orar – atit cele de la Montreal cit si cele de Paris, caci daca familia respectiva nu ar fi dat numarul de telefon agentului de voiaj, ei bine pur si simplu ar fi pierdut cursa deoarece se modificase si ora de plecare din Montreal – avionul urmind sa plece in cursa cu doua ore mai devreme decit in programul initial!
